Premarital Discipleship

Congratulations on your decision to marry...

The most important decision that you will make in life, next to choosing to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, is who you will chose to marry.  Marriage, from God's perspective, is to be a lifelong commitment to companionship rooted in love between a husband and wife, to the glory of Jesus Christ. (See Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:21-33).  Death alone should be the only reason the commitment ends.  Jesus said, "...what God has joined together let no one separate," (Matthew 19:6).  In order to succeed in your future marriage, you'll need to lay a strong foundation, through prayer and careful planning, which will equip you and your mate to have a solid and fulfilling relationship as well as help you to effectively deal with the challenges you will inevitably experience.  Our goal through God's Grace is to help you lay and build upon a solid foundation in your future marriage.

Thank you for considering Calvary Chapel Boise in your wedding plans.

Listed below are the requirements for couples to follow if they desire to have a pastor from Calvary Chapel Boise perform their wedding.

  1. Due to the number of weddings that are performed at Calvary Chapel Boise, use of the church facilities is limited to couples whereby at least one member regularly attends our one of our services.
  2. Please print and fill out the Pre-Marital Questionnaire. Along with the premarital forms are questionnaires for choosing a mate and one for re-marriages. The Premarital Questionnaire needs to be completed and returned to the church office as soon as possible. Complete the work on the questions about choosing a mate and re-marriage (if applicable) and be prepared to discuss your answers at your first premarital counseling session with an elder or assistant pastor.
  3. The office will contact you upon receiving your completed premarital questionnaire to set up an appointment for your first premarital counseling session. At this initial meeting, an elder or an assistant pastor will find out the status of the couple, introduce the Calvary guidelines, and discuss the questions regarding first-time marriages and re-marriage.
  4. Following your initial meeting, you will then decide if you want to follow through with pre-marital discipleship at Calvary Chapel.  Pre-marital discipleship consists of meeting with a discipleship couple for six to eight weekly sessions using a workbook "Preparing for Marriage God's Way" by Dr. Wayne Mack.  The workbook is available at Red Letter Books and Café.

The time needed to successfully go through pre-marital discipleship is three-four months.
