Nursery

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14

Our Goal

Our vision at Calvary Chapel Boise "to know Jesus and make Him known" is also our goal in the nursery. We desire to nurture a child’s trust and confidence by providing a tender, secure, and loving environment. Our aim is that each child will experience the love of our Lord Jesus through our care givers.

Parent Co-op=The Best Care!

What is Parent Co-op?

We consider it an honor and a privilege to serve you in this vital ministry. Our goal is to provide you and your child with the best-possible loving care. To accomplish this goal, we need your participation. Our parent co-op approach consists of loving parents like you who desire the best for their children. Our parent co-op only works when you’re on the team!

How Does Parent Co-op Work?

Parents who have children that receive care from the nursery are expected to sign up to volunteer once a month during one of the service times to help keep the nursery staffed and running smoothly.

Health Standards

Keeping children healthy is a team effort between our parents and our nursery care givers. We ask that you do not bring your child to the nursery room if he/she has any of the following symptoms:

  1. Fever
  2. Signs and symptoms of possible illness — unusual lethargy, uncontrolled coughing or wheezing, persistent crying or irritability, or difficulty in breathing
  3. Diarrhea
  4. Vomiting in the previous 24 hours
  5. Contagious skin rash
  6. Any Nasal Discharge
  7. Other contagious diseases/conditions not listed.
If any of these symptoms are apparent, please don't expose the other children in the nursery to your child's illness. Instead, please utilize one of the many options you have to still hear the service here at Calvary. When in doubt, keep your child with you.

Our Facility

In order to provide a clean and safe environment for your child, we have a regular cleaning schedule which includes: washing blankets, sheets, toys, and cribs; cleaning the carpet; and maintaining an organized room. We provide snacks (animal crackers, etc.) for children who are able to eat solid foods. Please let us know if your child has any food allergies.

Staffing Requirements

The nursery room is staffed with volunteers who serve on a rotating basis. To insure safety and optimal care, we maintain a ratio of one care giver for every two infants and one care giver for every four toddlers. If we have reached our capacity or our care giver to child ratio is exceeded, you will be asked to take your child with you to the cry or nursing room. In order to provide continuity and stability in the nursery, we have a nursery coordinator who will be in the nursery whenever the rooms are open. He or she will greet parents and children as well as oversee the sign-in/sign-out procedure.

Our aim is to provide the best spiritual, emotional and physical care possible
and to uphold godly standards in all of our interactions with your child.

Registration

When you sign your child in the nursery, you will receive a pager with a number that corresponds to stickers we place on your child’s back and belongings. If your child is crying and we are unable to calm him/her down within 10 to 15 minutes, we will page you. As the pager will vibrate to notify you, please hold onto it throughout the service. A cry room is available for you to continue viewing the service with a fussy child. For the safety of the children, whoever picks up your child after service must present the pager to the nursery worker before taking the child.

Things to Bring

  1. At least one diaper (For sanitation reasons, we require disposable diapers.)
  2. A bottle or cup with drink already mixed
  3. Special snacks if your child has allergies (Please notify the nursery workers of specific allergies.)
  4. A change of clothes (for accidents)
  5. A pacifier or special blanket, if desired by child

Resources

Free literature with the goal of helping you guide the spiritual, emotional, and physical growth of your child is available on the sign-in table in the nursery. If you cannot locate the material, please request it from one of the nursery care givers.

Emergencies

You will be contacted immediately if your child has been noticeably or significantly injured (e.g. a bump or bruise forms or the skin is broken). The care giver will fill out an accident report and give it to the Nursery Director for any follow-up action necessary.
