What is Marriage Discipleship?
It is an opportunity to walk one-on-one with another couple who has a heart to see your relationship with God transform your marriage relationship through His Word. Jesus said, I have come that you might have Life abundant.
Who is it for?
Marriage Discipleship is for those who feel they would like another couple to encourage them in this season of their marriage. Sometimes we are overwhelmed and struggling and sometimes we just need another couple to bounce things off of. We need someone who will “hear us” and direct (nudge) us to the scriptures for God’s direction. There are times when we just have difficulty recognizing God’s voice. We don’t have any magic bullets, but we can help you find God’s way.
The Goal:
To help other believers to grow in their relationship with Christ and with their spouse such that their marriage reflects God’s glory. God has a plan for each marriage to be strengthened so as to impact the world around them.
Why do we provide marriage discipleship?
Every marriage can go through a time(s) where understanding and compassion seem to be somewhere, but not in our home. These are opportunities that God allows us to experience so as to draw us into the wonder of His grace. We praise God for each of these learning events because they create in our heart a deeper need and desire for His presence in our life. This is when God can mold us into the image of His beloved Son. Rom. 8:28-30
How do you get started?
Fill out a Marital Discipleship Request Form and return it to the church office. Forms are available at the reception desk. Or call the church office for an appointment.
Does it have to be a crisis?
No. Many times we just need some encouragement to be assured that we are on the right tract to grow through the circumstances of our life journey. God’s desire is to strengthen us to stand firm in His word as we walk the road to eternity.
Calvary Chapel Boise:
Every marriage can develop a sore spot that could use a touch of grace. God, in His great wisdom, will bring us to a point of exasperation so He can give us His grace. Marriage discipleship is an opportunity, to deal with those pesky items that interfere with having the fullest of relationships in our marriage.
Testimony:
This is a rewarding ministry. We have been discipling couples for over 4 years and we have seen people and their marriages transformed. When you are willing, God will do miraculously beyond what we can ask or imagine. Eph. 3:20. It is a wonder and a privilege to be there as God works in the hearts of people. -Lynn
