Children's Ministry - Discipline Procedure

Guidelines

First offense - Take the child aside from the class and explain what you want and what the child must do to comply.

Second offense, same day - Put the child in a timeout away from the group, explaining why. After a brief period in timeout, talk to the child concerning the behavior, ask for an apology, and let the child return to the group.

Third offense, same day - 2 years through 2nd grade: The teacher has the option of sending the child to sit with his or her parents. 3rd grade through 6th grade: The teacher has the option of asking the child's parents to sit in the class on the following Sunday.

The teacher should ask the parents to help develop a strategy to assist the child in amending the behavior.

The choice to implement these procedures lies with the teacher. If the guidelines do not work, the teacher should contact the Service Coordinator or the Sunday School Director for further assistance and prayer.
